St. Martin's Anglican Church, Calgary

Welcome to St. Martin's Church!

Are There Plans for a Building?

The answer is yes.

The first commitment of St. Martin's has been, and continues to be, the formation of a lively, faithful and imaginative Christian community. One of the wonderful discoveries of these recent years, since the selling of the historic church, has been the rediscovery of how the church is the people who gather in the name of Jesus Christ – and that can happen anywhere.

Every Sunday the people of St. Martin's "make church" at the Calgary Academy in a lovely multi-purpose room with windows that open to aspen woods, foothills and mountains. The glory of God reaches into the place of worship and joins with our music, prayer and celebration. But once our worship is ended, and Sunday School and the youth program, and its time to go, we then fold up the chairs and go out to be the church in the world. During the week, we are graced with being able to rent office and meeting room space from a local church:  Knox Presbyterian.  It is this shared use of space that reminds us that we are in a time of transition, needing to be gracious as guests in other places.

The whole experience of being a "church without walls" has been a fertile time of discovery and learning. But we know we cannot rely on the kindness of the Calgary Academy and Knox Presbyterian Church for ever.
